Wedding Photography Booking Process
You are on your wedding planning journey, reaching out to wedding vendors to create your perfect wedding day. You don’t do this often, so you’re a little out of your element. This article is your guide on what to expect during the process of booking your wedding photographer with Deerfoot Thomas Photography.
The first step in my photography booking process is to fill out a contact form on my website, which includes important questions related to contact information, the type of session you’re interested in along with ideal budget and date, and where you are in the booking process. The last question is a free write box for you to tell me all about you (and your partner); I’ve been told proposal stories, favorite restaurants, and about furry friends (pets).
Once you submit your contact inquiry with Deerfoot Thomas Photography, you will receive an email response within one business day from Lauren. After reviewing your response, I will be able to delve more into your wedding day details with you and give you personalized recommendations on what sort of wedding photography coverage would fit your needs. From here, I like to schedule a phone call to meet you and/or your partner… voice to voice, or even face to face if you’re feeling adventurous enough to do a video chat. It’s one of our first opportunities to get to know each other and see how our personalities mesh. These calls take up to 15 minutes to meet each other and go over any additional questions you or I have.
After our call, I will send over a proposal (or two) with information on the packages that best fit your needs. Once you are ready to book, you and your partner can review the contract attached to the proposal. Signing the contract and sending the initial payment ensures your wedding day is fully booked, and I will not be booking any other work during your contracted time. The initial payment due is 25% of the package cost as a retainer to book the day. The remainder of your balance will be paid, on a custom payment plan or in full, at least one month prior to your wedding date. The contract ensures that we have a mutual understanding and agreement of services to be performed and other pertinent details for your wedding day. This contract protects you and me, and ensures we are on the same page to collaborate with confidence and creativity for your special day.
After you’ve booked, I am here with unlimited consultation and planning assistance. I am happy to provide recommendations of venues and vendors to work with, as well as assist in creating and optimizing your wedding day timeline.
I hope this glimpse into the photography booking process has been helpful in what to expect after submitting your inquiry. I am here for you, every step of the way. It is such a privilege to be a part of this beautiful process. Don’t hesitate to reach out, I’d love to connect!
